Planning for "We value our Slog"
Title of Essay
"We Value Our Hard Slog"
View:
We learn to value things most for what we had to work for. If we were simply given an item, it would be more likely to be subject to abuse than if we had to work for it.
Example:
If simply given money, and being not the result of any work, we are more likely going to waste it on useless things we would not need, such as extra accessories, and articles of clothing. If one had to work hard for their money, they would have the incentive to spend it frugally and attain what they need and value. A person who had to work hard for an item would feel the satisfaction of their labors, and would keep it in their best effort to keep said item (possibly a car, house, clothing) in a good condition, thus valued.

My essay:
As humans, how we value our possessions tend to be subjective towards several factors; one being the effort exerted to attain said item.

Planning for "Truth Essay"
The Good:
"The truth sets you free"
^ Common mantra amongst the religious
This is generally true, being that most tend to feel that a weight has lifted from their conscience after saying the truth.
The Bad:
Imagine if you're in the scenario that you are a criminal trying to evade the law and are questioned whether you were present at a possible crime scene. Of course, lying may not do the law justice, but would well remain in your favor.
Sometimes, lying needs to be used for personal gain
or
Used to comfort others
Scenario:
Being a doctor faced with the situation that a patient is evidently dying and must speak to the patient's family. You could tell the truth and watch their sorry faces weep for their loved one, or perhaps lie and give them a confidence boost. Either way has its pros and cons:
Truth:
Definite sadness
Lie:
Confidence
but
will be dashed when the family member dies, but who is to blame? There is also that "miracle chance" but shouldn't be relied upon and wouldn't be delved upon.
Gut feelings:
The truth is generally a good thing, but in some cases, lying should be done.
